Changes

I like change, but I don't always deal with it very well. Does that make any sense? In just the last few days, we've gone through some changes in the Palmer house. First, Brock is officially weaned. I have to admit that I'm kind of sad, but he doesn't seem to miss it, and I have a lot more freedom. So, as of now, he's just drinking water & whole milk. Also, my parents & grandmother came in town on Friday. They stayed at our house & took care of Brock so that Greg & I could have 24 hours "Brock free". It was my first night away from him - the longest we've been apart! I missed him, but Greg & I had a nice time hanging around Austin. Our first stop: a birthday day party for one of Brock's friends. We decided Brock shouldn't go because the birthday boy had the hand-foot-mouth deal the week before. Here is a picture from the party...

After the party, we went to the mall for lunch and a movie (500 Days of Summer - we both thought it was pretty good). Then, we went to the lakehouse to drop off our stuff & get ready for the evening. We drove out to the Mandola Estate Winery in Driftwood -we tasted 7 different wines but were disappointed to find out the grapes are from the Lubbock area (but the wine is produced in Driftwood). We enjoyed a wonderful Italian meal at the winery's restaurant and then headed back to the lakehouse for a relaxing night. We woke up whenever we wanted - didn't have our alarm clock (aka, Brock). We went to Juan in a Million for breakfast (of course Greg gets the "Don Juan") then headed back to our house to relieve the grandparents. They had a fun time with Brock & even let him skinny dip in his little splash pool. The picture below was at the winery.

After a weekend with his grandparents, Brock started "school" on Monday! He is attending the Kingdom Kids WEEkday program at Banockburn Baptist on Mondays & Wednesdays (9-2). YEA! Here he is about to head out the door.

We were the first ones there, so we waited outside until someone let us in. Can you tell I was a little eager? I'm not sure what Brock is doing in this picture (distracted as usual), but Ms. Robin & Ms. Sonya are smiling! They seem really sweet, and it's so nice to know he's in good hands while away from me. Today, they learned that Jesus said, "You are my friends." John 15:14-15.

As soon as he hit the ground, he headed for the balls - his favorite! His teachers told me that a little girl in the class would hand him balls because she knew he liked them so much. Ha!

He didn't even turn around to say goodbye. He was too excited about all of the "new" toys! I enjoyed my time "off" - got a lot done around the house...ran errands...and even sat down for a few minutes to reply to some emails.

When I picked Brock up, they said he was so happy & had a lot of energy. He never went down for a nap! Oh my goodness - it was 2pm, and he hadn't taken a nap all day! But, he was in a surprisingly good mood. I gave him a quick snack, and he kept nodding off. So, I put him down (thinking he was going to take a great nap). After just 30 minutes, he was up & ready to play again. Uggg! So, that's what has been going on around here the last few days...
